North Channel and back in the USA

The past week we travelled from Little Current to Drummond.

Remember how I said it has been so hot? Well, things have changed since and the weather we have experienced lately is more October than July!! We have had rain almost every day and the temperature has been constantly in the low teens.

Last year we did the Southern part of the North Channel so this year we decided to do the Whaleback. There are plenty of anchorages surrounded by granite shores and we spent nights in Bell Cove, Hotnam Bay and Beardrop Bay. The scenery is lovely but the very little sun and wet soggy days kept us on the boat while at anchor and I think both Gary and I have a little “cabin fever “.

Candians

A gorgeous rainbow as we left Beardrop heading to Drummond

The main one slip into two and there is another on on the left - so total of 3

We hope to get off the boat to stretch our legs when we stop in the next couple of hours.  We have to clear customs in Drummond and tomorrow we keep our fingers crossed for a good weather day to make it as far as St. Ignas.

Then it is the mighty Lake Michigan again………..
PS We just checked into the States with customs in Drummond, I wrote a big thing about it but Gary says: "No blogging in anger" so that is all I will say for now.

To be continued………………..

  3. So sorry to hear you had trouble with Customs!!! We had the same blog rule: ok to bad-mouth the weather, the sea conditions or the unidentified "go-fast boat" who rudely hits you with their big wake, but not known or named people or government staff. But I'm sure sympathetic with your desire to vent! I struggled with that too! Oh, North
Channel brings back such wonderful memories! Are you going all the way around the whole Loop again, and back to the Bahamas for the winter? Xoxo

  4. You are almost back to where we first met you. As you travel south we will remember all the great times we had. Sorry to hear about the cold weather. It sure takes the fun out of a great anchorage. Missing you both.

  5. Regarding getting mad at the US Customs.....we Americans get mad at our guvment all the time....we especially dislike our tax collection agency the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Our country was founded upon anger and disapproval of the parent guvment (which was the British at that time) and resulted in the Declaration of Independence and a serious revolt - the Revolutionary War.

Today, its the same. Most of us are still VERY displeased with our guvment.
