It's Grand to be back in Grand Haven...

Some times I think Gary and I are a little crazy!

Thursday 8th of August, we left Frankfort and headed to Pentwater, well we actually ended up in Grand Haven, 14 hours and about 150 miles further.
The early mornings on the lake can be  chilly

Crazy hey! BUT the weather was good and the waters were calm (ish). We had following seas and by the time we got the entrance in the Grand Haven we were surfing 4-6 footers following seas. That was interesting!!

Tired but happy-Sundown Grand Haven

But overall it was a good day, but we were very tired after such a long day on the water and were very happy when we finally tied to the free wall in Grand Haven. I was still tying lines to cleats when the first person stopped by to chat. The friendly people of Grand Haven like to ask questions about Canada, The Loop, the boat and the South African flag that flies from our Starboard radio antenna.

We met a nice couple who plan to start their Loop in the next year or so, and we look forward to catching up with friends we met here last year on MV Blue Angel.

Sundown and getting ready for the musical water fountain

Since the 60's during the summer months
 Grand Haven has put on
a musical fountain

From the deck of the boat we have front row seats

On Saturdays they have a farm market on the waterfront.

by himself and got some gorgeous salmon
On Saturday Jim ( MV Blue Angel) took us and the crew from MV His Idea shopping for supplies. Having the use of a car to get supplies is wonderful , especially if you have to buy heavy things like cat food and cat littler, oil and anti freeze.

We ended our evening with a lovely BBQ on MV His Idea watching the parade of boats past Grand Haven . These pictures are compliments of the Admiral. Thank you.

Tomorrow we hope to move on to the anchorage in Saugatuck. Perhaps we will spend a couple of days there before heading to St Joe. Before you know it we will be back in Chicago!!

to be continued..............

  4. In Grand Haven, there is a really good ice cream shop right along the water near the municipal marina. From the free bulkhead its just a short walk.

We too enjoy the updates. You have me wondering if Great Lakes cruising should be on our bucket list.

  7. Hi from Guy and Bobbi-Lyn, we had a little chat with Gary while you were anchored in Byng Inlet. We came by on our red canoe with our white puppy Tanika. Just checking out your blog for the first time-very cool! Can't help feeling a little envious. Safe travels from Kokopelli.
